The place: A secret VW hot rod shop near Randolph AFB, TX.

The ride: 63 VW 1200 with 92s (1701 cc) dual port heads, Mallory ignition, Scat C-55 cam, 180mm Porsche diaphragm clutch cover, and Weber 48-IDA. real 155 HP.

korby, I have a piccie of me from 1978. I am in the center of this photo which was an ad for the hair salon that cut my hair. I've got the spiky brown hair, and am left of center (go figure! Oh My goodness!! I just farted!!) in the striped tunic, sis is on the right with slicked-down short hair and the HUGE eyes. Everyone besides us worked in the salon. This ad ran in Los Angeles magazine.

Actually, it was more a cross between David Bowie's Spider from Mars era and Linda McCartney's early spikey shag when she was in Wings.

Funny this thread was just started, I just had some slides scanned!

This was in 1990, when I was in shape to ride the whole 12 plus miles of Slickrock Trail without dying. I could crank up the steepest grades, ride really technical stuff without falling.
I'm getting more slides scanned right now...
