Morning Mad Hatters
Tis snowing heavily and we've gotten close to 15 inches since yesterday. And it's supposed to keep falling till night. The storm that hit us got up to Cape Cod - and decided to make a U-turn and come back for some more dumping of the white stuff. Da MINI is almost completely covered.
Am home as I couldn't get my MINI out of the driveway this morn, even if I had tried. Just as well. All bus service into and out of NYC is suspended due to the snowstorm.
I was given a laptop yesterdya so I could work at home. Only thing is it cannot connect to the editing system. So I have the day off. Just love the POS equipment my short-sighted cost-cutting run-by-bean-counters company which gets and then does everything on the cheap with little planning and not-exactly-brilliant execution. Cut costs at all costs is a good strategy to beef up a company's stock for a quarter or half year - and then inside of a decade the company is dead because it did not grow. Idiots.
In the old days of the 90s when we were an actual news agency we'd be put in hotel rooms during blizzards, etc, within walking distance of the newsroom. Heard an editor plead for such with higher management yesterday, to no avail. Twas not in the budget you see. This speaks volumes.
On a brighter note, am wearing my "I Was Never There" tee-shirt from the Int'l Spy Museum in DC and tis the case. Was never in the newsroom today. Blue jeans, long-sleeved thermal shirt and casual shoes are the order of the day. Will dress accordingly for our bouts of snow-shovelling this afternoon.
Enjoy the Madness
Coffee - for when you're snowed in and plowed under
