:hs   My new baby is still at the dealer. I pick her up tommorrew from Mini of Birmingham.

Pepper White, 6-spd Turbo, Black Stripes, Black Rims.   It's very high on the cute factor.

I've want one for years.   When I discovered a dealer in my backyard, it was all she wrote.

Here's my Newborn......   I still need to get her Bonnet Stripes and Chrome Driving Lamps Installed

I had some much driving her today.   I'd forgotten how much fun a little sports car was to drive.  It's makes my Grand Cherokee feel like a great big lumber beast.

One more post and I should be free!

This is my Jefferson County, Alabama Rant!  My husband and I stood in line for 6 hours to register my new mini yesterday.  I knew it would be a long line but nothing could describe this.
6:10 Left the house
6:30 Dropped the Mini at the dealership to receive stripes and driving lights.
6:50 Arrived at the Jefferson County Courthouse parking lot.

7:00 Found the Park Entrance of the Courthouse where the Tag registration line started
(They open at 8:00) there was already over 100 people in front of us. Some folks arrived at 5:30 to be the very first person. Wow, and I thought I was doing great when we arrived at 6:50.

9:00 Entered the building where we received a number and was informed that they only accept cash or personal check. No debt cards or charge cards.  That little tid bit would have been nice to know before folks walked into the door.

11:00 Entered the Tag Office. I thought yippie! Surely it won't be long now I can see the clerks. 20 lanes available, only 5 clerks working.

11:30 Clerks start taking their lunch breaks.

12:50 I here the word "Next" I hand the clerk my paperwork for the Mini and my Jeep.

1:00 We walk out with Tags and feeling sorry for the poor soles in line.

I had to waste a vacation day to get a Tag for a vehicle, because of poor management and incompetence of our politicans.  If any of these Incumbents get re-elected I will be surprised.  If I had a simple renewal, I could have just mailed in a check.  Because I was registering a new vehicle I had to do this in person.  [/]
Schroeder has recieved his stripes and his tag.  Any Jefferson County folks that still need to register my suggest is: Bring a friend, a chair, food, and a check book. Get there by 6:30. Don't park at meter.
Good Luck and the end of my rant.

This is where I was. The Tag office is just ahead.

So sorry kitty.  I abandoned Jefferson County for Shelby County over 9 years ago & I never intend to go back.  The satellite office for taking car of such matters in Shelby County usually has a 15 minute or so long line.  Hec even if you go at the very end of the month when everyone is panicking because their car tags are expiring & they forgot to renew... the lines are at their longest & still, have never longer than an hour  :ny

It's all good.    I'm just happy that I can start a new thread now!

More importantly I named my Mini, Schroeder.   This was the name of one of my favorite cats.   Schroeder was a very adventurous tabby. He would ride horses with me. Escort me on walks.  He even protected the motorhome while we watched the Sebring 12 Hours.

nut go to your profile then click on FORUM PROFILE.  Scroll down to the signature area & you can add words or an image (no larger than 500X100) in that area.  If you have trouble let me know :)

Hey everyone!

My name's Julie and I'm looking to buy my first MINI  :bg My boyfriend is a MINI enthusiast and has been pestering me for years to dump the Kia and move on to (smaller) BUT better things.

I've always loved the MINI's, but I don't know too much about them. I wanted to buy brand new (I just love new things) but I'm hearing good things about the 2005-06 years and I'm not sure what to buy! I also do not know how to drive a standard... lame I know. I'll learn eventually. I commute a lot, and I'm very indecisive.

What year is the best for someone commuting like me? Or just in general?
To S or not to S... (is it lame to do in an automatic? Should I just learn standard?)
White, black, or red...
What other cool options are there I should know about?

Help me guys! Someone make up my mind for me, puhleasee :]

BOO!

How's everyone doing these days?

To those I haven't met, my name is Shannon and I fell off the face of the Earth in '09. I'm back now, feet firmly planted, attitude in place! Nice to see familiar 'faces'  :bg

When I disappeared I may have left a sour taste in the mouths of some...not really sure...my apologies if so. If you wanna tell me about it I am open to hearing it.

The checkered peep still looks brand new.  It's still hanging in it's shadow box on the pic of the MINI :)
